Comments: Reintroduced from 1929 to the 1930s (Ref. 1739). Species said to be first imported by the marquis of Exeter in 1879. Local anglers in Dorset reported sightings in last 2-3 years (3 specimens known to steal bait from anglers' lines). These fish were caught and killed by a rogue, disgruntled angler. So species is now extirpated. Initial reproduction was followed by a period of no recruitment. A.Pinder, J. Bass and Tony Chester (pers. Comm.) by (Gordon Copp, pers. comm., Oct. 18, 2006).     Ref:  Maitland, P.S., 2004
